INMHA Institute Community Support (ICS) Program
The ICS Program is designed to foster community development by providing grants and awards to individuals and organizations for the purposes of:
- Aiding research and knowledge translation activities where the circumstances fall outside CIHR's current suite of funding programs.
- Supporting individuals and organizations whose goals are consistent with CIHR and its Institutes' vision, mandate and strategic directions.
The ICS Program is not intended to support the direct cost of research (e.g., pilot projects, feasibility studies or operating grants), principal and co-investigator salaries or research equipment.

Under the framework of the ICS Program, INMHA funds activities in the following areas:
Brain Star Award
The Brain Star Award is a long standing program of INMHA which rewards excellence in research done in Canada by students and trainees in all fields and disciplines covered by our Institute.
The CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee
The CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee is an annual event where high school students compete amongst their peers to showcase their knowledge of the brain and neuroscience research. For more information on this initiative please visit The CIHR Canadian National Brain Bee website.
Planning and Dissemination
INMHA provides funding for planning and dissemination events and/or activities (including workshop and symposium support) that are determined to be relevant to the our Institute’s mandate.
Funds Available
INMHA's contribution to the amount available for this program is subject to availability of funds voted annually to CIHR by parliamentary appropriations, and the conditions that may be attached to them.
