Call for Expression of Interest: CIHR Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research Development Workshop
From December 11 to 12, 2018, a development workshop for the CIHR Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research (NEIHR) Program will take place in Ottawa, Ontario. This workshop is primarily intended for the funded NEIHR Development Grants recipients; however, there will be seats available for other interested individuals to participate in the workshop. Thus, any interested individuals who would like to receive an invitation from CIHR to participate in this workshop should send an Expression of Interest (EOI) to CIHR.
The objectives of the NEIHR Development Workshop are:
- To increase the workshop participants' knowledge of the NEIHR Program.
- To strengthen the workshop participants' capacity to write a successful NEIHR grant application.
- To foster the development of partnerships among the workshop participants.
The NEIHR Program is an $100.8M investment in Indigenous health research over 16 years. NEIHR is led by the CIHR Institute of Indigenous Peoples' Health and co-led by the CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health. This Program is supported financially by all 13 CIHR Institutes.
The purpose of the NEIHR Program is to establish a national network of centres focused on capacity development, research and knowledge translation (KT). The network is intended to provide supportive research environments for Indigenous health research driven by, and grounded in, First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities in Canada. The NEIHR Program will take a comprehensive approach to building capacity in Indigenous health research by concentrating on Indigenous communities and structural factors (e.g., educational systems, research infrastructures, etc.) and focusing on individual agency (e.g., supporting trainees and researchers). The Program will support multiple and multi-level strategies that fully engage Indigenous communities and traditional Indigenous knowledges to establish a solid foundation for Indigenous health research.
Apart from the funded NEIHR Development Grant recipients who are already invited to the NEIHR Development Workshop, interested individuals who would like to receive an invitation from CIHR to participate in this workshop should complete the online EOI form by October 28, 2018. CIHR will only respond to those EOI applicants who are invited to attend the workshop with the registration instructions. These invitees will be responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses to attend the Workshop.
