COVID-19 Mental Health Research website launches July 7 to support mental health and substance use needs of Canadians
As part of the Government of Canada’s rapid research response to COVID-19, the COVID-19 and Mental Health (CMH) Initiative has developed a user-friendly website to support the immediate mental health services needs for Canadians who need it most.
During the week of June 22, 45 preliminary knowledge syntheses from the Knowledge Synthesis: COVID-19 in Mental Health and Substance Use funding opportunity were submitted. In order for policy makers, practitioners, researchers and all Canadians to access this critical information, we have been working behind the scenes since April to develop a functional website with a comprehensive, searchable database of these knowledge syntheses to ensure rapid dissemination of current evidence on mental health services needs, delivery and guidelines, practice and related issues in the COVID-19 context.
This research, including preliminary syntheses and corresponding lay summaries, can be searched by population, including Indigenous Peoples and communities, vulnerable populations, substance use and more. This critical knowledge will be updated regularly as new information becomes available and future knowledge products are created. Though the site is bilingual, to ensure the rapid dissemination of this critical information, lay summaries and syntheses are published in the language in which they were submitted by grantees. Please contact us for French or English translations.
The website serves other important functions as well. Read news, updates and announcements related to the COVID-19 and Mental Health (CMH) Initiative, as well as evidence-based wellness resources and a full list of all CMH Initiative working groups and partners.
As we continue to rapidly support the synthesis and creation of essential mental health and substance use knowledge as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic, please take the opportunity to explore the new website. You are welcome to reach out to our dedicated CMH Initiative inbox to provide questions and comments relevant to the CMH Initiative, the website and more.
