Biography
Prof Baillet is Professor of Neurology & Neurosurgery, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering at the Montreal Neurological Institute & Hospital, McGill University. Over the past two decades, Prof Baillet has led an international research career in Europe, the USA, and Canada, with strong multidisciplinary foundations.
His team has advanced the comprehension of large-scale neural dynamics in cognition, complex behaviorand disease, such as dementias, epilepsy, and movement disorders. His group also contributes and shares practical research tools such as free, open-source software and data repositories, with tens of thousands of users around the globe. Prof Baillet describes himself as a curious practitioner of open science, which both challenges and expands the traditional models of the scientific praxis. He also has a track record of patented intellectual property and successful industrial transfers.
Prof Baillet currently holds the Tier-1 Canada Research Chair of Neural Dynamics of Brain Systems and has received multiple other international accolades for his achievements in cognitive and clinical neuroscience.
Prof Baillet also has a track-record of leading and developing large academic research enterprises at the service of institutional science missions. He has led research groups and research core units and platforms in Europe, the USA and Canada at key moments of transition, all in university-hospital environments. He has been since 2019 the Associate Dean of Research at McGill's Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, a top research-intensive institution with a strong international outlook, and a broad network of affiliated teaching hospitals and research institutes.
