National Day of the Child and 2023 Making a Difference Report
Message from Dr. Christine Chambers
On November 20 each year we commemorate National Day of the Child. This date marks the 1989 adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, a landmark treaty that outlines fundamental rights and protections for all children.
In our Strategic plan, Better Beginnings, Vibrant Childhoods, and Empowered Youth: Research that Makes a Difference, we committed to releasing annual highlights of our Institute’s activities and investments. Today we are releasing our 2023 Making a Difference report and I am pleased to shine a spotlight on our Mental Health in the Early Years (MHITEY) initiative, our Healthy Youth Summit and our knowledge sharing event collaboration with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
Through each of our activities and investments, we are proud to be fostering growth and equity across Canada's human development, child and youth health research community.
Sincerely,
Christine
