CIHR Accessibility progress report 2023 - Year 1 Annual Report
Message from the Acting President

CIHR is pleased to share our first Accessibility Plan Progress Report, in support of the Accessible Canada Act’s objective to achieve a barrier-free Canada by 2040. The report highlights work conducted from April 1 to September 30, 2023.

The report sets out the progress that CIHR has made to date and identifies priority areas for further action. And while success will take time, we know that the route to this success follows a course of meaningful and daily actions that remove barriers and build a strong foundation of accessibility confidence and inclusion. Included in this work is the commitment to ensuring that accessibility is embedded in our funding programs.

As we implement our Accessibility Plan, we will continue to apply the “nothing without us” principle - engaging with employees, our community and experts with lived experience. I encourage the entire CIHR community to inform themselves on how they can be allies in this collective journey.
