Notice of upcoming funding opportunity: Catalyst Grants in Oral Health Data Analysis
Introduction
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the Catalyst Grants in Oral Health Data Analysis. This funding opportunity is a collaboration between the Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis and the Institute of Aging and will fund targeted analysis of the Oral Health Component (OHC) of the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) Cycle 7 data.
Overview
This funding opportunity will support projects relevant to one or more of the following research areas:
- Epidemiological Research
- Biomedical Research
- Clinical Research
- Oral Health and Older Persons
The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:
- Catalyze research focused on oral health data analysis from CHMS Cycle 7 to inform the 10 research questions developed by the Office of the Chief Dental Officer of Canada and foster opportunities for new oral health research discoveries.
- Support focused bioscience research in oral health that can advance relationships in science and epidemiological oral health, including those between oral health and systemic health.
- Identify at-risk oral health populations and assess oral health access and disparity.
- Foster knowledge mobilization, and advance clinical care and evidence-based policy development.
- Build long-term sustainable capacity in oral health data analysis.
At least one (1) Early Career Researcher (ECR) OR Mid-Career Researcher (MCR) must be named as a Co-Applicant on the application at the time of registration. The applicant team must include at least one knowledge user (including but not limited to patient or public partner) as a Co-applicant.

Funds Available
The total amount available for this funding opportunity is anticipated to be $1,400,000, enough to fund approximately six (6) grants for up to one (1) year.
The maximum amount per grant varies depending on the research pool.
